Why start exercising?

So we can dance in the rain........AGAIN!!!!

Whether its an age issue, being overweight, medical issues or we simply don’t know what to do to get started. And purchasing the ritual gym membership in January after we put on 10 pounds over the holiday we have found isn’t enough. What do we do when and where.

If you’re in your 20s you may be in the best shape of your life, or at least you have the potential to be. Maybe now’s the time.  If you’re in your 30s you’re probably working super hard, making decent money, maybe raising families and filling out your clothes beyond their intended size and its not pretty.  Maybe now’s the time. By the time you're in your 50s you’re REALLY ready to do something about it.  This could be your last hurrah. The career has moved along, the kids are "starting" to venture out on their own (please!!!) and you FINALLY have some time to devote to yourselves.  You really don't want to work the rest of your life, do you.

No matter what your age group, the ultimate question is “Why start now?”. You may not want to have the body beautiful.  Its too much trouble.  You don't want and can't leap tall buildings in a single bound, even though you may still think you can. Bottom line, you just want to look good and enjoy life.  Here's why.  Because if we don't do something ALL the traditional problems with any age group may come crashing down way before their time. We may have lost a decade, or more, and there's very little we will be able to do about it.

If we’re in our 20s its just not right to be fat and out of shape. In our 30s we have all the exuses imaginable, but we want to look and feel like we think we look and feel. In our 40s time’s running out and the inevitable looks like reality. In our 50s we get mad and finally decide to capture what we think (or hope) is possible. The dream is not dead but it sure is fading. Our balance freaks out and we break an ankle simply stepping off the curb.  Six weeks back on the sofa.  Our internal body chemistry goes haywire and we start taking all types of medications to "try" to get things back to normal and not die before we're 60 or 70.  But, we end up taking a pill that counteracts the side effects of the initial medication and we take another pill to counteract the effects of the second and on and on and on.  But there's a better reason why.  Many people can really reverse the upward rise of our A1C and we can stop racing toward diabetes.  We can regain our balance and agility that ever so slowly dwindled away after "relaxing" on the sofa ...... another night and we can walk with dignity and not in fear of falling "and we can't get up'.  We want to finally put our carry-on luggage in the overhead compartment   ALL   BY OURSELVES and not depend on a child flight attendant to embarrass the heck out of us with "Would you like some help with that Sir or Ma'am?".  Whether you are 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 or 70, its time you started the climb back to being the best you there is and living life rather than fearing it or daydreaming it. It's time to grow up ... again.  THAT'S WHY!!!!
